Calling all pet parents, Walmart is here to make your lives a little bit easier.
The retailer announced on Thursday, November 12 their plans to enter into the pet service game with Walmart Pet Care. Read on to learn more about Walmart Pet Care and what pet owners can expect from this new service!
The retailer explained Walmart Pet Care will be an “omni-channel pet care offering that makes holistic care easy, simple, and affordable for the 90 million pet owners who shop at Walmart.”
And, as more and more people are choosing to become pet owners during this pandemic, now is the perfect time to launch this new service.
“We’re on a mission to help families live better — and that goes for pets, too,” Melody Richard, merchandising vice president of Walmart’s pets category, told Business Insider.
“Especially as adoption rates soar as a result of the pandemic and more people become pet owners, this was the perfect time to launch expanded services in Walmart Pet Care for our customers.”
Alright, here’s what will be offered to shoppers under this new Pet Care service:
Pet Insurance: Walmart customers will be able to sign up for pet insurance through Petplan. This insurance will help pet parents save on vet bills, as well as schedule regular appointments. Not to mention, Petplan offers access to $1000 worth of free online virtual vet appointments, should you just need a quick question answered.
Pet Rx: This service will offer low-cost pet prescriptions for dogs, cats, horses, and even livestock. They will also deliver the medication right to your door.
Store Pharmacy Locator: Should you not be near your local Walmart, you’ll be able to find your pet’s medication at whichever Walmart is most convenient for you.
Along with the great services above, Walmart is also collaborating with Rover to pair pet owners with pet-sitters and dog-walkers. Rover also offers doggy dare care, boarding, and drop-in visits.
“Through Rover, pet parents can quickly and easily book pet sitters and dog walkers from over 300,000 providers in their communities across the country,” a Walmart spokesperson shared.
“Walmart is working with Rover to provide customers with convenient pet sitters and dog walkers that match each pet, lifestyle, and budget.”
And, to sweeten the deal, Walmart customers who use Rover will receive a $20 gift card after completing their first and their fifth Rover appointments.
